In recipes that call for egg yolks, does this mean just the yolk, if so, how do i get just the egg yolk?

yes, just the yolk.

Since you're new to this, I suggest just

1. cracking the egg into a bowl

2. fish the yolk out with a spoon or your fingers.

That way if the yolk breaks when you crack the shell, it's in the bowl and not your hand.In recipes that call for egg yolks, does this mean just the yolk, if so, how do i get just the egg yolk?
they mean only the yolk and you get it by simply breaking the egg down he middle and using the two half shells to poor the egg in one another by leaving out the white, its not really attached to the yolk so it doesn stick on it,just like poring water from one glas to another only leaving just a bit to drip out.

The egg must be pretty fresh though. In recipes that call for egg yolks, does this mean just the yolk, if so, how do i get just the egg yolk?
Well, there are strainers that can do the job for you but I was watching an episode of Three's Company and they showed how to do it.

Crack the egg and split it open but as you do turn one end of the shell up to catch the yolk. Now you carefully pour the unbroken yolk back and forth between the egg halves and after a few pours you will only have the yolk.

Is there anything 80's sitcoms can't solve?
Yep, you need just the yolk. The easiest way I have found to do this is to crack the egg into one of your hands and pour from one hand to the other letting the egg white barely slip through your fingers.
the easiest way for me is to use and egg separator but if you don't have one on hand.....

Crack the egg normally but hold the egg in one half of the egg shell. Over a bowl pass the egg from one part of the shell to the other and let the egg white drop into the bowl. Keep passing from one shell side to the other until just the egg yolk is left.

Do this for as many eggs as you need and put them in a separate bowl from the egg whites. Save the egg whites to make things like meringues or just have white scrambled eggs!!!!
you need to separate the yolk. there are tools for this, but i dont have one. i just crack the egg over the sink carefully (need two substantial halves), and keep pouring the yolk into each half of the shell until all the white runs off. It's a lot easier than it sounds!
You can use your hand to seperate the yolks from the white, or the shell you just cracked. Try your best not to get any of the egg white in the yolk when you are seperating them. Also, save the whites: they can be used in other recipes and are good for a few days in the fridge.
Break the egg in half and pour it from half shell to half shell until the clear liquid (white) drains out. Do it over a bowl or over the sink.
This is a great question. Yes, you use only the yolk, to remove the whites you will need to either and this is the easiest in my opinion. Crack an egg and open it into your hand shifting the yolk from on hand to the other and letting the whites run to the bowl under it. Another way is to break the shell in two and slowly shift the egg yolk from one shell to the other the whites should run into the bowl. There is also a yolk seperater but I find they tend to break the yolk. Good luck with this and remember to be gentle with the yolks.
yes, just the yellow part.

you can use an egg strainer (looks like a spoon with holes in it)

or many people use the shell and pour away the whites.

You will probably break a few in the process, break new eggs in a seperate bowl, and combine them with the rest when you're sure they didn't break.
CRACK OPEN THE EGG AND TAKE THE YELLOW(YOLK) INTO YOUR HAND AND LET THE WHITE SLIVER THROUGH YOUR OTHER FINGERS UNTIL YOU HAVE NOTHING BUT THE YOLK...IT SOUNDS GROSS, BUT YOU CAN ALSO DO THE SAME WITH THE SHELL AFTER YOU CRACK IT OPEN ALSO...JUST SEPERATE THE WHITE AND YELLOW--YOU WANT THE YELLOW--HOPE THIS HELPED
Yes just the yolk! I break the egg in half on the side of a small bowl and over the bowl slip the egg back and forth from one half of the shell to the other, as the white slides into the bowl and the yolk remains in the shell. It is very easy. They also sell plastic egg yolk separators, but that does not really work any better!
Yes that usually does mean just the yolk. You can get just the yolk by cracking the egg into you fingers and let the white of the egg run through and your left with just the yolk.
just the yolk-carefully crack the egg pass the egg back and forth in the 2 broken parts of the shells-slowly-until the yolk is left.
Yes. Crack the egg and break the shell into two halves. Hold them together with slight gap so that the egg white can drain out but keep the yolk inside.
Carefully crack the egg and pour it from one half of the shell to the other until all the white drops off and the yolk is left in one half of the shell. Or you can buy a kitchen tool that separates the yolk from the whites.
Yes, just the yolk. To do this I usually crack the egg in half with the longside of the egg up and down so that all of the egg stays inside the shell. Then I take the half of the shell with the yolk and white and start dumping out the white slowly....Once it gets harder to dump the white out, i hold the other half of the shell up against the shell with the yolk so that the empty shell holds the yolk inside and lets the white drip out. The yolk can stand a little poking, but I've broken a couple of the years so be careful!
Recipes that call for just egg yolk want just the yolk. There are gadgets you can buy to separate an egg, but I find the best way is just to get your hands dirty. Have two small bowls ready. Crack the egg as you usually would (flat hard surface works best, such as a countertop). Break the egg open by removing the top half of the shell (so the crack is horizontal and you are removing the top vertical half). Allow the whites to run into one bowl and dump the yolk into you hand. Allow the remainder of the whites in your hand to run through your fingers. You can pass the egg yolk gently from hand to hand until you have just the yolk. This is fast and easy. It's messy, but hey, aren't messy cooks good cooks?
Yes it means just the yolk of the egg. Crack the egg in half like normal. Then transfer the yolk back and forth from each egg shell until you just have the yolk. Good luck and happy holidays!
This is pretty hard to do but the best way i think is to crack the egg into your hand and kind of pass the yolk from one hand to another until just the yolk is left. And by pass i mean just drop it into the other hand over and over. just to let you know your probably never going to get just the yolk, you'll still have some egg white.
You crack the egg, and gently pour the yolk from one side of the cracked shell to the other, letting the white slip into a bowl and then putting the left over yolk in whatever it is your making. You can use the egg whites to make divinity. A candy in case your not familiar with that.
