i usually eat meat or fish what recipes can i make while trying to become a vegen?? is it true you need to take certain vitamins?? and most importantly i suffer from ibs will this change make it worse or better??Become a vegetarian??? thinking about becoming a vegetarian i want to know what kind of recipes you can make?
Vegetarian dinners:

lentil soup and melon halves filled with berries

hummus with pita bread and cucumber dippers

vegetable stew over couscous

spaghetti with broccoli, garlic %26amp; oil.

vegetarian chili over baked potatoes with cheese

potato soup

vegetable soup and corn muffins

baked potatoes with fried onions, broccoli %26amp; cheese

stuffed peppers and pasta

fruit topped with yogurt and cereal

As you can see there's a huge variety of choices available, and I could list 20 more without trying.

As for types of vegetarians, some eat eggs and dairy products, some don't.

Vegan is more than a diet, it's a lifestyle, many vegans don't use any animal products like leather, honey, etc.

Vitamins - Because of modern farming methods, EVERYONE should take vitamins, it isn't possible to get enough magnesium, for example, through diet any more. even omnivores need them.

I have IBS and the vegetarian diet helps me a lot, though I usually eat cooked fruits and vegetables rather than raw ones.

Enjoy your new life style, you'll feel so good!Become a vegetarian??? thinking about becoming a vegetarian i want to know what kind of recipes you can make?

Are you becoming a vegetarian or a vegan? They are two totally separate things! My friend takes vitamins (she is a vegan) but I don't know what kind. You should ALWAYS take vitamins anyway.

As for recipes, make stir fry with just veggies.

Or pastas like spaghetti without the meatballs.

Egg salad (if you are becoming of a vegetarian)
I have a friend with IBS. She's not vegan, but tries to eat that way as much as possible because she says it's better for her condition.

You'll need to work on new foods to replace the meat and fish. Like tofu, tempeh, beans, seitan, lentils, fake meats, nuts, and seeds.

Vegans can possibly become deficient in B12. The thing is, most people have a 2-3 year store of this vitamin in their system already. Ways to replace this are by eating foods like fortified soy milk, nutritional yeast, and seaweed.

Try these websites for info about eating a healthy vegan diet, as well as recipes and other good stuff.
A vegatarian will eat fish, chicken, eggs a vegan eats nothing but vegetable. As far as reciepes do what you are doing and cut the meats and stuff. You should check with a doctor on the ibs.
I was a veggie for 14 years, got pregnant with my kids and stopped, but am one again once I got done nursing. I feel great and don't have to worry about my weight that much, which is nice. I suggest getting the book ';Diet For A Small Planet'; it is a great resource. Learn all you can before you start. Some great cookbooks are Moosewood Cookbook by Katzen and any cookbook by Cresent Dragonwagon. Also, I have the book Almost Vegetarian (Shaw) and it ia great mix of recipies that can be converted to meat or veggie.

good luck!

i am not familar with IBS.
amazon has some excelent cook book deals with hundreds upon hundreds of recipies, yes there are different types of vegitarians,if you eat right and pay attention to the nurtitional food content you can limit the ammount of vitamin intake, large doses of vitamins as of recently have been linked to heart issues, stay informed.
