Anyone know of Alaskan Malamute homemade dog food recipes?

I want to start feeding my Husky/Malamute homemade dog food. Can anyone help me get started? What do I need to know?

Or maybe someone can provide recipes of their own, so I can get an idea :)

Here is my own recipe : I don't have Alaskan Malamutes, but it is suitable for all dogs... my own thrive on it with fantastic coats, easy weight control, no wind, tartar free teeth, no flea problems and no 'doggy' breath at all :-D

1 kg raw beef

1 kg raw mutton/lamb

1.5 kg raw chicken/turkey (white or dark meat it doesn't matter)

1.5 kg raw tripe

1 kg mixed raw offal - liver, kidney, heart

Ethnic butchers are the best source of meat as they stock a much wider range at cheaper prices, will often deliver and best of all will chop most of the meat to your specifications, which saves loads of time.

The meat should be chopped into pieces roughly the size of the top of your thumb.

2 kg of mixed leafy/green vegetables (spinach, spring greens, broccoli, green beans)

1.5 kg carrotts

1 kg apples

2 large (supermarket sized) bunches of fresh parsley

1.5 kg of frozen peas, lightly cooked

300g sunflower seeds

100g pumpkin seeds

100g sesame seeds

Pulverise all of the above in a food processor so that it resembles a slightly textured cold soup.

Mix all of the above ingredients together (I use a large rubber tub trug, but washing up bowls or buckets will do just as well and then add:

1 kg white rice - cooked (ie 1kg is the raw weight)

1 medium jar of organic honey

1 tube of garlic puree

1 tube of tomato puree

2 tablespoons of brewers yeast

1 - 2 cups of vegetable oil

Mix together well and weigh out daily portions into freezer bags and freeze :-)

I allow 25-30g of food per kilogram of body weight (or expected adult weight in the case of puppies). Feed this amount for the first 2-3 weeks and then adjust up or down according to weight gain or loss until you reach the optimum portion for your dog's metabolism.
Get the book by Dr. Pitcairn, he's a vet and also uses holistic. He's been writing for 25 years now, he knows his stuff. My GF ordered his book 3 months ago and the results from feeding his diets have been very dramatic w/ our 4 and 11 y/o Yorkies. His diets are nutritionally balanced as well which makes all the difference to your dogs health (make sure of this if you chose another source, and unbalanced diet can be as bad as commercial foods). I'd call him the ';Patch Adams'; of the pet world, he is a person that really wants to help and make a difference. On his diets our dogs need less water consumption and poop a lot less also, he says that is normal.

When she made the first recipe, she tried the ';doggy meatloaf';, lol, I thought, ok they are gonna get diahrea, not even once. They eat that so fast it's not even funny, the running around the kitchen table they do when it's time to eat is hillarious now though, lol. Prior the young Yorkie would play with his ';Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul'; food and vomit shortly after. (it was recalled like the others) Our 11 y/o Yorkies eyes where getting cloudy and always crusty, he was prior on a ';premium'; pet food, since on his new diet he's like a puppy again and his eyes are crystal clear, no more crusty stuff either.

My Mom as well is taking care of two neglected Chinese Cresteds, we've been bringing her the diets allready made for her and the results again are dramatic and that has only been 2 weeks now. I haven't seen my Mom that happy in years and she's really enjoying being able to help them when prior they where refusing to eat any type of commercial food regardless how ';premium'; it was and one was really wasting away. Now instead of watching them slowly die she's thrilled watching them begin to thrive again and have a quality life. (she says she doesn't care for small dogs but I can tell she's falling in love w/ them.)

Once you gather up the ingredients (certain vitamins- NOT FROM CHINA EITHER, some basic supplements from a health food store), it's not bad to make and some can be made cheap (main ingredients: uncooked oatmeal, organic eggs) for a larger dog. Believe me you'll have piece of mind knowing your not poisoning your pet anymore either and vet bills will be lower from a healthier pet. Our vet bills added up to $6,500.00 the past 3 years, and we lost three of our little guys.

Glad to see your another joining in to save your pet from these greedy unconscienable pet food manufacturers. Must be you know what's really in pet food now huh?

We bought his book on Amazon.com but my GF says it's sold out now, search for it and get it, you'll like it.( was about $12.00 or so)

Book also has tons of other important info on over vaccination dangers, natural flea control etc...

I have to write this Dr. soon and thank him, his knowledge is saving our pets from a certain premature death they would have had from eating premium commercial pet food.

You might not have seen the damage getting done on the commercial foods but believe me it was happening to your dog as well.

Dr.Pitcairn says a dog should live to around 25 y/o, the average life of a dog in the USA, 11-11.5 years, enough said.
1 1/2 cups, maybe even 2 of cooked white rice, a can of mixed vegetables and 1 can of dog food (any flavor) mix all together ..........and every now and then mix it up a little, add 1 can of clam chowder soup of 1 can of tuna or 1 can of gravy or even instead of rice you can use noodles.....my 2 pits love this %26amp; it helps them get nice and big and the rice helps make their coat shiney.
YEH I LIKE MALS SLOWLY COOKD IN A MUSHROOM SAUCE.

    1. I have a question regarding your recipe. Isn’t garlic toxic to dogs and should be advised against eating it?
