Make turnovers they are quick. Use half the amount of fat to flour. Grate or chop finely the fat into the flour as it will take less time. Rub the fat into the flour with fingertips, until like breadcrumps . Add enough water to mix to dough. Roll out, cut into small circle (about the size or a small plate) slap in your filling (jam or cooked apple etc, whatever takes your fancy). Fold in half and seal edges with a little water to stick them together. Put in over for 20 mins or so.Any good recipes for shortcrust pastry that can be prepared and baked in 40 minutes?

chocolate tart - 6oz plain flour, 3oz butter, 1/2 sugar rubbed together to look like bread crumbs - add enough water to bind together but not sticky
rest for 10 mins - line a round tin with it - prick the base and egg wash - bake for about 15 mins
meanwhile - equal weights of chocolate and cream about 150grms - melted together - add tablespoon of very strong coffee in hot water, 1 egg yolk and a knob of butter
when the tart case comes out of the oven - cool as quickly as possible - pour in the chocolate and refridgerate
6 ounces of plain flour
3 ounces of margarine
a little water.
Rub flour and marg together, add a little water, mix until it forms a ball (not too wet). Leave for 5 minutes or so. Roll out on a floured board. Put in dish or whatever, bake for 20 minutes at Gas mark 5 or c200.
That is a standard British recipe
